People Are Losing It Over Britney Spears’ Audition For The Notebook

Perhaps one of the most iconic romantic films of all time, everybody is familiar with The Notebook.

Ryan Gosling as Noah and Rachel McAdams as Allie make the perfect duo for this insanely emotional and spark-filled film, and nobody could imagine it done with anyone else…until now!

A clip has resurfaced where none other than Britney Spears is auditioning for the role of Allie.

Of course, the video has sent fans into a spiral; not just because it’s Britney, but because of how well she pulls it off!

Fans took to Twitter (now known as X) to share their surprise at Britney’s stellar performance, which has everyone imagining a totally different movie in their heads.

In the short clip, we see Britney monologuing as Allie, in the scene where she tells Noah she’s married someone else.

One user wrote, “WOW! Britney Spears BREATHTAKING audition for The Notebook. I never knew she was so close to landing this role!  Amazing to see this footage 2 decades later & it makes me wonder what might have been…”

Another commenter added, “Well, hell. Britney Spears is pretty good. Tearing up on command is hard to do. I’m surprisingly impressed.”

While everyone agreed that the pop star gave a beautiful rendition of that piece of the script, the unanimous sentiment is that it wouldn’t have been The Notebook we know and love without Rachel McAdams.

I mean, the film was fantastic as it was chosen, and that’s why we have casting directors but ??? Damn Britney. She was actually really good, and could’ve shined in another project as well.

While we would have loved to have seen what Britney would bring to a role like this, we have to agree that Ryan and Rachel’s chemistry is simply unmatched.

Time to go re-watch The Notebook for the millionth time!
