Philip Schofield’s Wife Stephanie Has Broken Her Silence Since He Came Out As Gay

Late last week the This Morning presenter released an emotional statement announcing his news

Philip Schofield’s wife Stephanie has spoken out publicly for the first time since her husband released a statement to the public revealing that he is gay.

Late last week the This Morning presenter released an emotional statement announcing his news, which he shared with This Morning’s Instagram followers.

In the statement Philip praised both his wife and daughters for their ongoing support,

“With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay.”

“I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years, and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby.”

“My family have held me so close: they have tried to cheer me up, to smother me with kindness and love, despite their own confusion.” he continued.

Following the release of Philip’s statement, Stephanie has remained silent until yesterday.

Speaking to the Sun on Sunday, she simply said:

“We have had to face the most emotionally painful time in our 27 years of marriage.”

Philip and Stephanie first met back in the early 1990s while both working at the BBC. They married in 1993 and shortly after had their two children.

Philip has said that he felt confusion surrounding his sexuality before they settled down, but wanted to pursue his happiness with Stephanie.

“I am not saying I didn’t know. Whatever was ‘there’ I thought, ‘OK whatever this is, you stay back because I am happy,” he said.

“If you ask anyone who is gay, they know – there is no confusion.”

Philip has since said that he and Stephanie will still continue to have a close relationship while parenting their two daughters.

“We’ll always be okay, we’ll always be a family”
