R. Kelly Has Been Released From Jail After Paying A $100K Bail

R. Kelly has been released from jail following his arrest last weekend.

Yesterday, the singer plead not guilty to ten accounts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four women, The Guardian reports.

The 52-year-old walked out of a Chicago jail after posting $100,000 bail that allows him to go free while awaiting trial. A judge set bond at $1m, meaning Kelly had to post 10% of that amount to be released.

According to The Guardian, Kelly will be forbidden from having any contact with girls younger than 18 while awaiting trial.

The singer surrendered to police last Friday.

Kelly’s court appearance comes shortly after the release of docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly, which aired last month and included detailed accounts of several sexual abuse allegations.

Kelly is due back in court on March 22nd. If convicted of the charges in Chicago, he faces between 40-70 years in prison.
