Riverdale Has Finally Come To An End – And The Finale Left Fans In Shock

The end of an era!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

After seven years, Riverdale which was based off the Archie comics has finally come to an end with the series finale airing on Wednesday night.

Whatever the fans were expecting it certainly wasn’t what they received as the finale left them in pure and utter shock.

The finale entitled Goodbye Riverdale saw an 86-year-old Betty magically travelling back to 1957 to relive her last day of her senior year in high school.

Throughout the episode, Betty catches up with Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones and Veronica Lodge as well as her mother Alice (Mädchen Amick), sister Polly (Tiera Skovbye), Reggie (Charles Melton), Cherry (Madelaine Petsch), Toni (Vanessa Morgan), Kevin (Casey Cott), Fangs (Drew Ray Tanner), and more.

One by one Jughead reveals what the future held for each of Betty’s family and friends.

The  episode concluded with Betty Cooper played by Lili Reinhardt revealing she had engaged in a polycule relationship with Archie (KJ Apa), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse).

Confessing her feelings to Reggie (Charles Melton), Betty said: “Turns out, after Angel Tabitha’s (Erinn Westbrook) last visit, I remembered what it was like being with Jughead and being with Archie. And Archie and Veronica remembered what it was like being with each other. But Veronica and Jughead had just started a thing. And remembering all of that sort of just took the pressure of us having to make a single choice.”

Betty continues on saying: “So the four of us realised that we could, and maybe should, just be together. At the same time. Some nights Archie would sneak into my bedroom and Veronica would go home with Jughead. Other nights, Archie would spend the night at the Pembrooke and I’d go over to Jughead’s. And sometimes, more often than you’d imagine, I would find my way to Veronica’s.”

Fans were split in their feelings on the finale’s quad relationship revelation with many taking to Twitter to let their feelings be heard.

One said: “We gonna act like them being a quad isn’t genius and it solves basically all the problems in the Archie comics or I don’t know, the Riverdale writers seem to have more fun than anyone else.”

While. another commented: “introducing betty, Archie, jughead and veronica to all be in a quad relationship in the finale has got to be the most stupid thing Riverdale has ever done.”

Seems fans are shocked yet divided on their thoughts of the final episode of Riverdale.
