Roz Purcell, AKA, the Irish hiking kween and creator of The Hike Life, has confessed that her most recent hike in County Kerry has proven to be her favourite of all time in Ireland.

Admitting that she’s most happy when in the great outdoors, spending the majority of lockdown (when restrictions allowed) taking to new peaks across the country, Roz even published a list of the top 20 epic hikes around the country earlier this summer. Taking into account her favourite climbs from over the years, as well as those voted by The Hike Life community, the cookbook author included spots in the likes of Waterford, Down, Wicklow, Kerry, Cork and Antrim and well, it looks like she’s got a new spot to top the list.

“Best hike in Ireland that I’ve done so far & we were so lucky with the weather it kept clearing as we reached each peak,” Roz revealed while talking about the the Coumloughra Loop – which takes in Ireland’s three highest peaks in County Kerry.

Explaining that it’s a hike for more experienced hikers, Roz revealed that she was in awe of the views, the way the sky cleared every time they reached a peak and the fact that she had a great gang guiding her.

“When your with Orlaith and Piaras from @kerryclimbing.ie your in the right hands! Definitely one to tick off if you’re experienced and not afraid of heights but do book them in to guide for safety!”

Adding that the loop takes in “Cnoc Lochtair, Skregmor, stumpa barr na hAhbann, Beenkeragh, the bones, Carrauntoohil, Caher and Caher west,” Roz added that it was pretty tough on the legs with a lot of edges and just over 13km in length.

Could this be one you’ll add to the list this summer?
