Russell Brand Opens Up About ‘Chaotic’ Marriage To Katy Perry

Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s relationship appeared to be a tumultuous one; it hit the headlines frequently in the late 2000’s as the pair seemed to experience their share of ups and downs.

Now over ten years later, Russell has gotten candid about his experience of the two year marriage while appearing on an episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls: The Challenge.

“Aside from my feelings of affection for Katy, it’s a time that I remember as being a little bit chaotic”,  Russell shared, adding that it was “a bit, for me, I’ll speak for myself, a little disconnected.”

The podcast host and comedian also spoke about how it was to be in such a public relationship. “It was kind of incredible to live for a moment in that eye of a cyclone type aspect of fame”.

In a more positive note on his ex-wife, Russell asserted that “Some aspects of it were amazing—she’s an amazing person”.

Katy has previously spoken out about the marriage, sharing how difficult things were in her experience.

In an interview with Vogue in 2013, the singer revealed how Russell had texted her to ask for a divorce just moments before she was heading out on stage to perform for a live concert while on tour.

Katy also shared that Russell wanted an equal partner, but couldn’t “handle” that equalness.

“He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting.”

She added that Brand is a “beautiful mind, tortured soul.”

Katy has been engaged to actor Orlando Bloom since 2019, and the pair have been dating since 2016. They share two year old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom. Cutest name ever!
