Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell Hint At New Project Together

It may not be the end for these two Derry Girls...


Derry Girls has come to an end (sob) and we are going to miss them so much!

Not only the gas storylines and the perfect one-liners, but the gang themselves, the friendship goals we see on-screen. As Nicola Coughlan is making big waves in Hollywood and the other girls getting exciting opportunities of their own, it’s hard to imagine when we’ll see the Derry Girls together again at one time.

But wait. All is not lost, we may have a creative baby from two of the girls coming our way!

During an interview on the Tea With Me podcast, Jamie-Lee let it slip that there might be something in the works between herself and Saoirse!

“We’re making stuff already”, she said before adding, “We’re not going to talk about any of that…We have a couple of things in the pipeline.”

Hmmm… whatever it is we are here for it. A script perhaps? A spin-off? A play? So many possibilities but whatever it is we will be keeping our eyes out for updates.

The last episode of Derry Girls premiered last night and the girls shared heartfelt messages for the show and their characters on Instagram ahead of the finale.

Saoirse wrote, “Ahead of our Final episode tonight on @channel4 at 9pm 🥹 I wanted to thank our @lisafromderry for this beautiful series ♥️ Derry Girls was a huge break for me & working with Lisa has changed my life and will always continue to inform my creative decisions for the rest of my career, a privilege to say the least.


“When I was cast as Erin I was beyond excited & that was down to the confidence that Lisa had instilled in me from the auditions. Lisa was always keen to push Erin further with me. Lisa gave me the scope in her writing and direction and amazing references from her favourite films and series, to push the physicality and energy of Erin every season.

“It’s safe to say a role like Erin certainly doesn’t come about every day for an actor and it’s something I will always be grateful for. This show means the world to me, thank you for every beautifully crafted word and thank you for giving my beautiful hometown it’s truest voice ♥️♥️♥️”
