Saoirse Ronan Has Just Landed The Leading Role In Film Adaption Of Best Selling Book

She'll also be acting as producer on set through her new company.

Saoirse Ronan has landed a major role in an upcoming adaptation of Amy Liptrot’s best-selling memoir.

The Outrun is based on Amy Liptrot’s recovery from addiction, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Saoirse’s character will be named Rona and the plot will follow her journey as she finishes rehab and heads to Scotland’s wild Orkney Islands for the first time in a decade.

Rona reconnects with her childhood as she revisits the landscape in which she grew up and along the way, discovers memories that “merge with the more recent challenging events that have set her on the path to recovery.”

Sounds interesting!

Saoirse will not only star in the picture but will act as the producer through her new production company Arcade Pictures.

Speaking on the project in a statement she said, “It was Amy’s voice that first drew me to The Outrun.”

“Her unusual way of seeing things in a way that perhaps you only can when you’ve been to the darkest place you can go within yourself.

“I have been waiting to play a part like this – the messiness, hopefulness, dreaminess, authenticity and humour we want to achieve – I’ve been scared of it, but with Nora I feel ready.”

Speaking of Saoirse in the lead role, author Amy Liptrot said, “We’re thrilled to have Saoirse Ronan on board and are looking forward to filming later this year.”
