Sarah Michelle Gellar Pokes Fun At Claims Her Marriage To Freddie Prinze Jr. ‘Wouldn’t Last’ As They Celebrate 20th Wedding Anniversary

Daphne and Fred are still going strong!

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. were the ultimate ‘it couple’ of the noughties and for good reason.

They met on the set of 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, and began dating. Then featured in plenty of each other’s films, adorably playing Fred and Daphne in the live action Scooby Doo films.

Although they don’t collab on films much anymore, they are still a ‘it couple’ celebrating 20 years of marriage.

But turns out not everyone had high hopes for the pair, at the beginning of their relationship. In honour of their 20th anniversary, Sarah shared a sweet throwback wedding photo along with an interview of Freddie’s from 2001, where American DJ Howard Stern bet him their marriage wouldn’t last.

During their interview, Howard told Freddie: “So you will marry Sarah Michelle Gellar even though you know that it won’t last.”

With Freddie then protesting, promising they would.

Howard then insisted they wouldn’t, saying: “I wanna make a written bet with you. In about 10 years you’re gonna hunt me down and go, ‘Howard, I owe you money.'”

Freddie agreed to the deal, and has definitely won, considering how long they’ve been married.

Posting the interview to her IG story, Sarah wrote: “What do you think?!?! I think you owe us.” with Freddie re-sharing it, saying: “She will never forget.”

The couple tied the knot in 2002, with a small ceremony in Mexico.

Since then the couple have been going strong, welcoming two children. A daughter Charlotte Grace, who is 12-years-old, and son Rocky James, 10-years-old.
