So Bono’s Daughter, Eve Hewson, Once Pranked Called None Other Than Justin Timberlake

Well, that's an unexpected sentence to write.

Remember the days of sleepovers, entertaining yourself with prank calls? Ah, easy times. Well, as it turns out, Bono’s daughter, Eve Hewson also had her share of prank calls. The only difference is, she had her dad’s phonebook which had a lot more famous faces than the average.

Bono has crossed paths with countless Hollywood stars, actors and singers over the years, and Eve decided to have a rummage through his contacts with her sister one day and call a couple of these people.

One person who she phoned a few times, was Justin Timberlake, as he kept playing along.

Chatting to Phil and Holly on This Morning, Eve explained, “When I was younger, I stole my dad’s address book and we tried to prank call a few people, but Justin Timberlake picked up and we asked him trivia questions from the back of a cereal box.

“It was one of the best moments of my life. He just kept answering. I don’t know what his need to win is, he must be a very competitive person. I think he was charmed by us.”

Eve doesn’t need her dad’s phonebook any more, as she herself is working with some of the biggest names in the acting world.

The Dubliner admits her mum and dad never actually wanted her to follow in Bono’s footsteps and get into showbiz, but she did it anyway.

“No [they didn’t]. This was years ago, when I was a teenager. Maybe it was a reverse phycology thing, some strange parenting technique,” she mused.

“They didn’t want me to do it. I think they were a little bit scared of Hollywood. They tried to get me to stop, but I overpowered them.”

Eve went to the US where she studied in New York and focused on kick-starting career but as Covid-19 struck last year and lockdowns came in, she returned back to the family home in Ireland.

“It was good. It was nice. I have two younger brothers who were teenagers when I left to move to New York for college so it was good to reconnect with the whole family and the six of us were together all day,” she said.
