So Una Healy’s First Post-Lockdown Date Ended Up With A Trip To Hospital

It sounds like it could have been the perfect meet-cute!

Love in lockdown is never easy, and for Una Healy she shared that her first date after restrictions lifted was a bit of a disaster. The Saturday’s singer appeared on the Late Late Show yesterday evening and was asked about her love life.

Una split from her boyfriend, David Breen, last year and then tried some online dating. The 39-year-old revealed that she was initially unsure about it but ended up talking to a guy for a few weeks online, when she was still living in the UK.

“I was chatting away to this lad for weeks and I was getting on great with him and we were just chatting back and forth and video calling.”

However, when they decided to meet in person their date didn’t exactly go to plan.

When the singer was en route he messaged her to say he’d be late. Continuing she said; “I was like, ‘Oh okay,’ and he said, ‘I’ve actually been knocked down,’ he went on one of those borrowed bikes and apparently he got hit by a car.”

When he arrived she said “he wasn’t hurt very badly” but that “He was in a tizzy and was like, ‘I think I might be concussed. Am I concussed?’ And he was like, ‘I have to go to the hospital’.”

“So we went to the hospital anyway and I waited outside and I rang mammy and I told her and she was like, ‘This is your exit go now’.

However, like most of us, she felt bad and shared that; “I  can’t do that to him what if something was actually wrong with him’.”

Continuing, she said that she ended up waiting for him and he was ok;  “then we went for a walk around the park and he had a couple of beers and he was knocking them back and I was sitting next to him and I was going, ‘I think I need to go now’.”

What she learned most from this is how difficult it is to be messaging and chatting online for such an extended period of time. “It  just shows you need to meet the person this back and forth texting for weeks doesn’t work these virtual dates.”

This is probably one of the weirder first dates we’ve heard about and TBH it sounded like the perfect meet-cute!
