So, What’s Happening With Love Island All Stars?

Here's what we know

Today could have been the day – Love Island All Stars day.

We had dusted off the Twitter app and cleared our schedules from 9-10pm every single night for two months, only to learn that the Love Island All Stars air date has been postponed – indefinitely.

And there’s a good reason for it too. Wildfires are raging around the South African region where the villa sits, so naturally it makes sense that it wouldn’t be safe to film there.

But what’s been going on since, and do we have any idea when the series will begin? Here’s EYNTK.

Why is Love Island All Stars postponed?

The new series of Love Island All Stars has been postponed indefinitely due to the wild fires currently raging through the South African region of Franschhoek, in the country’s Western Cape.

ITV released a statement over the weekend, saying that health and safety was paramount to them, and that the launch date would have to be pushed back due to the fires.

They said: “Owing to an ongoing wildfire in the area, we have evacuated the Love Island production site as a precautionary measure.”

What’s the wild fire situation like now?

According to Xinhua Africa, over 100,000 hectares of land burned in the Western Cape over the weekend, leading to many evacuations in the region.

Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane expressed “deep concern” over the fires on Friday evening and called on, “residents, visitors and all road users in affected areas to exercise maximum vigilance and to strictly adhere to directives and evacuation instructions issued by disaster management officials.”

It is believed that the fires are largely under control now, but that emergency teams remain “on alert” due to the dry and windy conditions.

Have ITV shared anymore updates?

Not officially, but a source has told the Sun that the cast and crew are on standby nearby.

“Bosses have no choice but to wait for the area to be deemed completely safe,” they said. “The desire is to be back as soon as possible but risk and health and safety assessments are still ongoing.”

Apparently, ITV are spending upwards of £15,000 a day while they wait for the villa to be deemed safe for filming.
