Sorry, What’s Going On With The Jessie Buckley Cat Drama?

Honestly...

Jessie Buckley has cleared up some online confusion after a resurfaced interview led fans to think she might not be a big fan of cats…

Yes, the Irish actress found herself at the centre of a viral moment this week after an old clip from the Happy Sad Confused Podcast with host Josh Horowitz began circulating online.

During the chat, which also featured her Hamnet co-star Paul Mescal, Jessie shared a funny story about when she first started dating her husband, who already had two cats.

According to Jessie, one of the pets made it very clear that it wasn’t impressed by the new arrival in the house.

She recalled coming home to find the cat had left “poo on my pillow”, which led her to jokingly tell her husband: “It’s me or the cats.”

The moment quickly took on a life of its own online, with some viewers assuming the actress genuinely disliked cats.

However, Jessie has now addressed the viral moment during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“I need to clarify something for all the cat lovers of the world,” she said. “I am a lover of cats.”

The actress admitted she woke up to find people debating her feline loyalty online and said the misunderstanding genuinely bothered her.

“I woke up this morning to the world thinking I really don’t love cats and it weighed on me all day,” she joked.

To prove her point, Jessie revealed that she once even auditioned to play a cat in the 2019 movie musical Cats.

The audition did not go exactly as planned, however, as she found herself attempting to act like a cat during a movement session with renowned choreographer Wayne McGregor.

Jessie laughed as she remembered sweating, licking her paws and leaping across the studio while trying to embody the feline role.

Jessie, please never change!
