Storm Lorenzo, Maria Bailey and James Charles: Here’s What Ireland Googled In 2019

We LIVE for a good weather warning

If there’s anything we love this time of year it’s a pop culture roundup.

From bonkers stories, to brilliant books, this time it’s the turn of a Google roundup. The search engine has released a break-down of all the things that were searched on their platform throughout the course of 2019, and their results are fascinating.

For celebrities, the person we all Googled the most was professional golfer Shane Lowry… which is, unexpected, but fair enough.

In second and third place are James Charles and Boris Johnson, which make sense, considering you know, life. And Rebekah Vardy came in 10th place, a little disappointing considering the absolutely golden content Coleen Rooney provided us with back in October, but we digress.

Check out the full list here:

  1. Shane Lowry
  2. James Charles
  3. Boris Johnson
  4. Katie Taylor
  5. Maria Bailey
  6. Tommy Fury
  7. Anthony Joshua
  8. Liam Neeson
  9. Caitlyn Jenner
  10. Rebekah Vardy

A global list was also released, where American Footballer Antonio Brown topped the list (cough, boring). But it warms our heart to see James Charles sitting pretty at #3, the world loves sippin’ on some beauty community tea it seems, and we’re delighted.

  1. Antonio Brown
  2. Neymar
  3. James Charles
  4. Jussie Smollett
  5. Kevin Hart

Making it into the top 10 overall list of things that Irish people Googled in 2019 is Gay Byrne, Brendan Grace, and Storm Lorenzo, proving once again that the Irish love death and a good weather crisis, nothing more and nothing less.

  1. Rugby World Cup
  2. Gay Byrne
  3. Storm Lorenzo
  4. Game of Thrones
  5. Brendan Grace
  6. Cameron Boyce
  7. EU Election Results
  8. Shane Lowry
  9. Joker
  10. Luke Perry

For good measure, we’ve thrown in Ireland’s most searched ‘What is’ and ‘How To’ also, which reveals that apparently we’re all gobshites who still can’t boil eggs, and we’re getting old and haven’t a notion what a ‘boomer’ or ‘Tik Tok’ is. Youths, take the torch.
