Not to alarm anyone, but Avril Lavigne’s Sk8er Boi came out nearly 20 years ago. OK, yes, that might sound terrifying, but there is some good news to help with the shock of that anniversary. We’re getting a Sk8er Boi film.

Avril revealed her plans on the podcast She Is The Voice.

“Recently, with it being almost the 20th anniversary, a lot of people have been asking me to play this song on TV shows, so it keeps getting brought back up, and people will always reference it to me. And so, I’m actually going to turn this song into a film and take it to the next level,” revealed Avril.

As for what the film will be about, Avril did share some details, and it’s exactly what we were hoping for.

“You know what it was like in high school, you have all the different groups and cliques, and there’s like skaters, preps and jocks.

“It’s kind of like a missed opportunity at love.

The skater boy is in love with the preppy girl. And she’s too cool for him, but then five years from now, she’s feeding the baby, and she’s all alone. She wishes she would have followed her heart and not tried to live up to society’s expectations.”

How Avril will find the time to make a movie is a mystery as she seems totally busy with her new music, including her latest song Bite Me with Travis Barker.

Bite Me is Avril’s first single under Travis’ record label DTA Records. The pair have been friends for ages now, with Travis even saying, “Avril and I have been friends for a long time, but I think I’ve been a fan of hers even longer. She’s a true badass and an icon as a performer, songwriter and presence.”

Travis is currently engaged to Kourtney Kardashian and seeing how close he and Avril are, maybe we’ll get a Kravis cameo in the film.
