It’s going to be a busy time for Wicklow, as another film is set to be filmed there this year!

Recently, the news broke that the stars of the highly anticipated sequel to the 2007 Disney movie Enchanted, Disenchanted, had landed in Ireland to get ready for filming.

The star-studded cast, including Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, has now officially begun production in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow.

Now, the news has broken that Hollywood star, Elizabeth Banks will also be filming in Wicklow later this year.

This film is set to be a ‘character-driven thriller’ and tells the wild, yet true story of Kentucky’s legendary Cocaine Bear. Back in the 1980s, it was reported that a bear ingested 75 pounds of cocaine in the Chattahoochee National Forest in north Georgia in 1985.

The bear was later linked to Andrew Thornton, a former narcotics officer and ex-lawyer, who became involved in an international drug-smuggling operation.

The film, simply titled ‘Cocaine Bear’, is set for release in 2022.

As for filming in other parts of the country currently ongoing, well, Sarah Hyland, who most people will know as Haley Dunphy in Modern Family is currently filming in Dublin.

On set at Luttrellstown Castle, it’s believed that Sarah is filming a new project called Epic. The drama series which also stars Brittany O’Grady and Eleanor Fanyinka is described as a romantic anthology programme that reinvents fairy tales for a contemporary audience.

Sharing a snap from set, Nick Dunning posted a photo alongside Sarah Hyland, showing the pair in costume and looking very regal.

Yes, Leinster is busy, busy with the shlebs! Matt Damon obviously put in a good word for us.
