Everything You Need To Know About You Season 5
You....
Netflix’s You is back for one last round, bringing Joe Goldberg’s chaotic saga to what we can only hope is a final finale.
With Penn Badgley once again stepping into the shoes of everyone’s favourite, dangerously charming stalker, the final chapter is set to explore Joe’s psyche, because apparently, we haven’t seen enough of that already.
Here’s everything you need to know about You season 5, including its plot, cast, release expectations, and how Joe’s psychological split echoes Fight Club.

Plot: What’s next for Joe Goldberg?
By the end of season 4, Joe successfully ditched his Jonathan Moore persona and pulled off the ultimate rebrand back as Joe Goldberg. This time as a wealthy New Yorker, thanks to his new (and very rich) girlfriend, Kate Galvin. But while his wardrobe may have changed, his inner demons are still very much there.
Season 5 is set to dive deeper into Joe’s psyche as he juggles his fresh start with Kate and his ongoing struggle to, you know, not kill people. (Spoiler alert: He’s probably not winning that battle). But with ghosts of his past creeping in and a few enemies who might prefer him six feet under, Joe’s latest reinvention might come to a rather quick end.
Cast and Returning Characters
Penn Badgley is confirmed to return as Joe Goldberg, but the rest of the cast remains speculative. Charlotte Ritchie is likely to reprise her role as Kate, and fans are hoping to see the return of familiar faces such as Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) and Ellie (Jenna Ortega), both of whom have unfinished business with Joe.
We will be meeting new cast members such as Nava Mau who will be playing detective Marquez. Given that this is the final season, there’s a strong chance past characters could make surprising reappearances.
Release Date
Netflix has officially set the date for Joe Goldberg’s final act. You season 5 premiers on April 24th 2025, that means we’re just a little over a month away from watching Joe charm, stalk, and spiral his way through one last season.
Set your reminders now… or, you know, maybe don’t, for your own peace of mind.
Joe’s Split Personality: A Fight Club-Esque Descent?
One of the most intriguing aspects of You season 4 was Joe’s battle with his inner darkness, which took a physical form in the character of Ryhs Montrose (Ed Speleers). This twist revealed that Joe was unknowingly engaging in acts of violence and framing them in an imaginary persona, a concept strikingly similar to Fight Club’s Tyler Durden.
Just as Tyler serves as an unhinged alter ego for Fight Club’s narrator, Rhys represents Joe’s worse impulses, letting him dodge accountability and pretend he’s totally not the problem. (Spoiler: He absolutely is.)
Season 5 could expand on this psychological struggle, potentially revealing more about Joe’s fractured identity and whether he will fully embrace or finally reject his violent nature. Could Joe’s ultimate downfall come from within?

The Final Countdown
As You approaches its climatic season, the stakes have never been higher. Like ‘Joe really can’t keep getting away with this’, high.
With his psyche hanging on by a thread and his past catching up fast, season 5 promises a finale packed with tension, mind games, and probably a few bodies. The big question: Will Joe finally face justice, or will he somehow charm his way out of it again.
So, are you ready for one last deep dive into Joe Goldberg’s twisted mind?
You season 5 is coming to Netflix on April 24.
