PSA: A Major Series Is Leaving Netflix This December

It's time to binge watch it while you can, because all six seasons will be taken off the service next month.

Attention Gossip Girl fans, we’ve got some sad news to announce.

At the end of next month, December 31, all six seasons and 121 episodes of Gossip Girl will be leaving Netflix for the foreseeable future.

Yep, it’s sad news, but – with enough warning that we still have a chance to binge the full series, while we wait in anticipation for the reboot.

Next year, we’re set to receive a brand new Gossip Girl remake, following the same lines as the noughties hit, but this time with a whole host of new teens living and controlling Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

What do we know about the remake so far?

Well, earlier this month we got our first look at the remake. New photographs of the cast and set emerged, with them all sitting on the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.

The new cast members can be seen wearing school uniforms, and it seems as though the Constance Billard School for Girls and the St. Jude’s School for Boys have now joined forces for once.

Actress Jordan Alexander seems to taking on the role of group leader; filling Blake Lively/Leighton Meester’s shoes.  Who exactly will be taking on the main boy character is still a little unknown, however in other released pictures, actor Eli Brown has his arms around Jordan’s character, so that might be a good indication of what we can expect to see there – hitting us with the romance plot lines already, we cannot.

As for when we can expect the show to be on our screens, we may have to wait a little longer than originally planned, as filming has of course been delayed due to the pandemic.

The delay was announced earlier this year, and we were told that we can now expect a 2021 release date.

In the meantime, we’ll just be obsessing over these pictures (and binge watching the OG Gossip Girl before it’s too late!)

You’ve been warned.
