The Little Mermaid Remake Has Finally Found Its Prince Eric

It's been the gift that just keeps on giving

It’s the tale that just never seems to end. Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid has been the talk of the town for quite a while now. With constant speculation, confirmation, and cancellation, we can all breath a collective sigh of relief as the official cast has finally been decided upon.

Almost 6 months after Halle Bailey was revealed to be playing the role of Ariel in the live-action remake, her prince has finally been found, and it’s fair to say she had to kiss a few frogs along the way.

It was previously believed that 13 Reasons Why actor Christian Navarro may play the part of Eric, while Cameron Cuffe’s name was also thrown into the mix somewhere along the way.

To the dismay of many, Harry Styles publicly turned down the role of Eric a few months ago, telling that the part was just not quite right for him. Leaving the role of Prince Charming still unfilled.

That was until now, as according to Deadline, British-American actor Jonah Haur-King has finally been announced to play the part of arguably Disney’s most ridey prince (don’t @ me).

You might recognise Jonah as Laurie in BBC’s recent drama Little Women, and he also played a part in recent tearjerker movie A Dog’s Way Home.

Although we are still a tiny bit bitter that Harry Styles is not playing the role of Eric (he was made for it!!), but one look at Jonah’s dimples renders us rather satisfied with the decision.

Production of the movie will begin early next year.
