The Mean Girls Reunion We’ve Been Waiting For FINALLY Happened Last Night

It’s been a blow-out week of news for Mean Girls fans. First up, there was the confirmation that a theatrical version of the film was most definitely in the pipeline: Mean Girls The Musical, which will be kicking off in autumn 2017 in Washington DC, FYI.

Then, of course, there was the annual celebration of Cady and Aaron’s burgeoning romance on October 3rd – fondly known as Mean Girls Day – as inspired by this scene:

We were just about ready to put our memories of the 2003 movie to rest for another few months, when two of the film’s lead actors blind-sided us with a surprise reunion.

See those two Face-Timing lovelies? Yep, that’d be Lindsay Lohan and Jonathan Bennett, or Cady and Aaron if you want to be all Mean Girls-ish about it.

The pair must still be on good terms, or at least were keen for some publicity, as they both hit up FaceTime for a catch-up session last night. Lindsay posted the above snap to Instagram along with a series of hashtags, among them #nice and #friends, plus some more cryptic ones like #theworldisbiggerthan5 and #stevenuniverseJOBS. Seems like this pair were having a proper DMC.

Since his work on Mean Girls, Jonathan has had appeared in a whole range of films and TV shows, among them a recurring role as Ethan in MTV’s Awkward. He also appears in a whopping six films due to come out in the next twelve months, at least according to his IMDB page.

Jonathan gave fans his own little Mean Girls tribute on October 3rd, posting a video of him asking *that* question:
