Can you tell us a little bit about your new capsule edit with Littlewoods Ireland?

I have a longstanding relationship with Littlewoods Ireland, they’re one of the first brands I ever worked with when I started The Style Fairy. That was kind of a starting point of this kind of relationship, last year I had my first edit with them, and this year we’ve brought out the T-Shirt collection. It’s an elevated step up for me, the next level of what we did last year. This year, I had full creative control over the whole collection, which obviously for me, was just a massive opportunity, and really, really exciting. I was able to completely come up with the whole concept, starting the whole concept from scratch and had such complete input on everything. It was a really exciting opportunity and a massive learning curve for me as well.

What brought you back to Littlewoods Ireland to work on another collection?

I loved working with the team last year, it was an amazing experience for me, I really enjoyed it. So when they approached me with this concept at the start of the year of actually designing a collection, I just thought it was just such an amazing opportunity for me and to really explore a more creative side for me. So I just jumped at it.

I think the t-shirt collection is just totally me. While it’s a collection of really wearable basics, it has my personality stamped all over it and I’m just crazy about it.

When we started the process, I literally just started with a blank sheet of paper and was able to just explore loads of ideas of where we could go with this. I started looking at what were the most important t-shirt basics to have in your wardrobe. So you have your white t-shirt in there with a crewneck style, every wardrobe needs one. There’s the Breton stripe, which is just such a timeless piece. And then we’ve two others we have a bright pink, which is definitely my colour, I’m synonymous with my love of pink. Then the sage green, that’s really my probably my favourite colour for everything from home and interiors to clothes, I love mixing green and pink.

In terms of pulling the collection together, I wanted an overriding theme, so I explored lots of different ideas. But I just kept going back to this idea of positivity. In the middle of COVID, things were pretty negative, I thought this concept of positivity and positive messaging and affirmations would be a lovely theme for the collection. I started exploring some of my favourite quotes, even just words that I wanted the collection to embody, it just started growing and coming together from there.

I spent hours and hours coming up with the whole idea before I presented everything to the design team in Littlewoods Ireland. Now, I’m so happy with the four t-shirts. They’re four different quotes that really are really special to me. They all mean a lot to me and I think there’s just a lovely there’s a positive theme going across them all.

How did you decide you wanted to do something different with this collection?

This t-shirt edit was everything I had in mind, it’s just totally me. Although it’s a smaller, capsule collection compared to what we did last year, it’s 100% designed from scratch for me. For this time of year, it’s a little trickier to dress as it’s still warm but not enough for summer dresses, but certainly not cold enough for winter coats. I think they’re perfect for right now, they look amazing with jeans and trainers, but there are so many ways you could layer and style them. You can pair them with a midi skirt, a leather jacket, dress them up and dress them down.

The key thing I wanted was to ensure the t-shirts would suit each shape and style. For example, I really wanted to include a long line t-shirt, I know from Instagram and the community I grew there, we all like to pair our long line t-shirts over leggings – I think there’s a style for everyone in it.

We love how you connected with Women’s Aid for your t-shirt collection, how important was this to include for you?

It was so important, I’m really passionate about the work that Women’s Aid do. I have supported them a lot over the years – I do like a wardrobe clear out almost every year to then sell my clothes and I give those proceeds to Women’s Aid. So I suggested Women’s Aid to Littlewoods Ireland and they were totally on board. With this, I think because the theme of the collection is positivity, it just fits so well.

They’re an incredible organisation, the status is that one in four women are victims of domestic abuse, and that number skyrocketed during lockdown, which is just terrifying to think of, that there are women in our country who are terrified in their own homes. They have a 24/7 confidential helpline that offers people support in different ways, even if it’s just being there to listen. We’re in a position where we can help, so 10% of the sale of each t-shirt is going directly to Women’s Aid.

Do you have a favourite t-shirt out of the four?

Oh, that’s tough! I think maybe the Breton stripe because it’s a classic but I was also able to bring a touch of pink into it as well.

Team STELLAR was lucky enough to get our hands on the collection first. Here’s how we’re wearing The Style Fairy’s V by Very capsule collection for Littlewoods Ireland!
