The Traitors’ Rachel’s Mother Had Sadly Passed Away

"Our beautiful wee mummy"

The Traitors star Rachel Duffy took to Instagram today to share the sad news that her mother has passed away.

The Newry woman won The Traitors UK last week with her fellow Traitor Stephen Libby after playing an incredible game together.

She opened up about using her winning money to bring her mother, Anne, on holidays.

Rachel wanted to spoil her mam after she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at 47 and also had dementia.

Just days after the final aired on BBC, Rachel took to social media to share the sad news.

“We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beautiful wee mummy. We kindly ask for privacy as our family grieves during this difficult time,” she wrote.

Rachel previously shared a picture of her mother supporting her on The Traitors as she held up a t-shirt that said, “My daughter’s a Traitor”.

She captioned the post: “Donโ€™t get caught! Words of wisdom from my wee mummy Anne who is not only my motivation on The Traitors but my inspiration in real life.

“Mummy was just 47 when she was diagnosed with Parkinsonโ€™s (4 years older than I am now) and now faces dementia but still amazes me and my family every single day.

“Everything she has done for me and my four siblings is nothing short of incredible. Sharing caring responsibilities over the years for her has been a privilege and we are so proud to call her our mum.

“She wanted to show off her T-shirt โ€” so say hi and be kind or I might just murder you.”

Rest in peace, Anne.
