The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran is opening up about the major injuries he suffered while preparing for the upcoming season of Dancing on Ice, revealing he “cracked his head on the ice” and was diagnosed with a “mild concussion.”

Speaking before the show starts tonight, the singer told the Daily Mail: “Friday just passed, I had a serious fall. I hit the back of my head. So I’ve been diagnosed in a mild concussion as of today.”

But Siva didn’t let the incident knock him, getting back to practicing as soon as possible. “I just want to kind of get back on the ice because it can really shake your confidence especially if you’ve just cracked your head on the ice.

“But I expected this, just trying to stay focused and determined and know this is part of the journey,” he explained.

Luckily, there was plenty of medical assistance available when he first injured himself, allowing him to get the help he needed.

The Dubliner gushed, saying: “Luckily we have a medic beside the rink and we have a physio in the building too.

“So we had the blood pressure and blood taken and they checked my eyes and it’s all there, I’m we still here so I’m okay!”

But despite getting the go ahead, it was still a very serious fall. Even his partner, pro-skater Klabera Komini, who is plenty used to seeing injuries on the ice, was panicked by the accident.

“I passed out for like two seconds? I was out, gone. I don’t remember it but it’s part of it. A part of this is like you know, falling and getting back up and braving it,” Siva added.

Some of the celebrities Siva will be up against include comedian Darren Harriott, Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher, EastEnders star Patsy Palmer, Liberty X star Michelle Heaton and Love Island 2022 winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the singer jokingly admitted he didn’t know why he had signed up for Dancing On Ice and even revealed his only experience on an ice rink was skating with a toy penguin for support.

He also shared how his fellow bandmate Tom Parker who died in March after a battle with brain cancer, was one of his inspirations for signing up for the show.

“He (Tom) taught me so much about life and not to be afraid – that’s one of the reasons I am doing the show.”

Here’s wishing Siva the best of luck on the ice tonight!
