There’s Already Confusion Surrounding This Love Islander’s Job

Season seven kicks off on Monday and oh boy, how we're ready!

Can you believe it’s time to see Love Island return to our screens?

After a one year hiatus of the summer series due to Covid-19, Love Island is coming back on our screens and it looks set to be bigger and better than ever before.

Taking place in Mallorca, as usual, this week we were introduced to the initial 11 contestants that will be taking to the villa come next week.

Among them were five boys (soon to be six when the first bombshell lands) and six girls.

Ranging from ages 21 to 26 and from all different professions and walks of life, everyone had plenty to say about this year’s contestants and it’s safe to say we’re buzzed for the show to take place.

One contestant that somewhat confused people by their profession however, was Toby Aromolaran who revealed he was a semi pro footballed that played for a “social media focused” team.

Yep, it’s a first for us too.

Playing for a team called “Hashtag United” fans were baffled by the concept so, here’s what it actually all means…

Toby’s team is a real team that does play professional footballer, but at a much lower level than those who play in high leagues of English football, the best being the Premiere League.

Toby’s team was set up in 2016 by a YouTuber named Spencer Owen, the whole team and concept is driven by online culture and through it, they’ve gained quite a following for their team. Many players have even been scouted from Hashtag United, going on to play in higher leagues of English football for bigger teams.

Their online content and strong social media presence also means that the players of the team are more well-known then others at their level, giving them a good advantage when it comes to getting seen and getting exposure for their skillset.

Now, heading to Love Island, this type of reality TV exposure could be just what Toby needs to shoot his football career to the next level yet again… as well as finding love, of course.

“I thought, ‘if Love Island can’t find me a relationship then no one can,’” he told The Mirror.

“Looks wise, I’m a sucker for a cute face. Nice feet. That’s a deal breaker for me. I don’t have a foot fetish but I appreciate nice feet!”

Well, we cannot wait to see 22-year-old Toby woo us with his football skills and charm. This is sure going to be a good season.
