These Two Irish Locations Named Among World’s Most Beautiful Road Trips

A study recently conducted by Instagram has revealed the world’s most beautiful road trip routes, and unsurprisingly, two Irish locations are among the lineup.

The survey was based on millions of images that were uploaded to the image-sharing app Instagram. After analysisng 7 million hashtags, a list was produced – with Australia’s Great Ocean Road coming out on top.

The 157-mile coastal drive had1,321,570 hashtagged images on Instagram, which means that almost 8,418 pictures are taken per mile. However, coming in at number eight with an impressive 853 snaps per mile, is The Wild Atlantic Way.

For those familiar with the route, you’ll know that the drive stretching from Cork right up to Donegal boasts a series of epic coastal views every inch of the way.

Ireland’s second victory comes in the form of Northern Ireland’s Coastal Causeway, coming in at number 19 with 244 Instagram snaps per mile.

The study found that the USA is the country with the most picturesque road routes, with 6 locations including the iconic ‘Route 66’ making their way onto the list.

Also making it onto the top 20 list is the North Coast 500, Scotland, and Icefields Parkway, Canada.
