Real celebrity friendships don’t come around often: there’s Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler, and Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez Lena Dunham Karlie Kloss Martha Hunt.

It’s always magical when you realise two of your faves are best friends for real IRL, and while that’s most likely not the case with Beyoncé and Mariah Carey, we are still getting fangirl levels of emotion just from looking at this picture of the two of them hanging out together with their kids.

Beyoncé brought her daughter Blue Ivy, four, and a friend along to one of Mariah’s Christmas performances at the Beacon Theatre in New York on Sunday December 11th, and the legendary singers gathered for a photo backstage with their respective broods. “Backstage at #Christmas time with our beautiful children,” Mariah wrote on Twitter alongside the snap of herself, her twins Morocco and Monroe, five, Beyoncé, and little Blue.

The singer also shared another snap of herself and Beyoncé selfie-ing after the gig. Considering Bey’s usual silence on social media, except for the odd carefully curated Instagram or website snap, it’s nice to see a more relaxed side of her.

Mariah’s All I Want For Christmas concerts are running at the Beacon until next weekend. Back in 2014, the singer suffered something of a disaster when she missed her pre-recording slot for a live performance of her iconic Christmas song at the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting and had to perform live instead, despite her voice being somewhat out of shape. At the time a rep confirmed she had missed the pre-record due to a divorce settlement meeting with her lawyer, which makes sense as just one week later Nick filed for divorce.

Here’s hoping the Beacon concerts are going a little more smoothly so far.
