This Is Where That ‘Plant Trees For Pet Picture’ Viral Sticker Came From
Plus if they'll actually be planted or not
If you’ve been on Instagram in the past few days, you’ll likely have seen someone share a sticker along with a picture of their pet to their stories. The sticker claims that if you upload a picture of your fury friend, then a tree will be planted in return.
Gaining traction pretty rapidly, people soon began to question the motives behind the viral post, wondering where on earth it began, and more importantly, who was this poor person that now had to plant millions of trees.
An independent business called ‘Plant A Tree Co’ has owned up to kick-started the trend. Posting the reason why they made the sticker, they shared that despite how many gorgeous pups were snapped in aid of a good cause, there definitely won’t be 5million trees planted by the end of this week.

They said: “We posted the new ‘Add Yours’ story as a fun tree planting campaign where we can show off our awesome pets! We immediately realized the post would grow too big and that we didn’t have the resources to plant that many trees, so we deleted it 10 minutes later”
“Even though we deleted it, the stories continued to spread out of our control. Our credit for the post was also removed, because of what seems like an Instagram bug”
However, trying their best, the company has said that whole they don’t have enough interns on hand to mill 5 million trees into the ground, together we could actually make their goal happen, by planting a tree ourselves.
“We want to use this awareness for lasting impact, so we created this fundraiser. Please share this post and the fundraiser on your story, and tag all your friends, celebrities, and Instagram so they can see this and so we can ACTUALLY plant 4 million trees.”
If you want to take part in Plant A Tree Co’s mission, there are sites such as One Tree Planted and Wolfgang Reforest to help you.
