This Picture Of Hillary Clinton Is Going Viral Right Now For The Loveliest Reason
Our faith in humanity is partially restored.
It’s been a rough few days for the world with a wide number of people across the globe feeling disappointed and fearful following Donald Trump’s election win on Wednesday.
While thousands of people vented those frustrations by protesting Trump’s impending presidency on America’s streets, one dispirited voter, Margot Gerster, instead took to the hills for a hike in one of her favourite nature spots, where she encountered an unexpected fellow hiker, Hillary Clinton out walking her dogs.
Describing the exchange on Facebook, Gerster, who was with her baby daughter at the time, said:
“I’ve been feeling so heartbroken since yesterday’s election and decided what better way to relax than take my girls hiking. So I decided to take them to one of favourite places in Chappaqua.
“We were the only ones there and it was so beautiful and relaxing,” she continued. “As we were leaving, I heard a bit of rustling coming towards me and as I stepped into the clearing there she was, Hillary Clinton and Bill with their dogs doing exactly the same thing as I was. I got to hug her and talk to her and tell her that one of my most proudest moments as a mother was taking Phoebe with me to vote for her.
She hugged me and thanked me and we exchanged some sweet pleasantries and then I let them continue their walk.
“She hugged me and thanked me and we exchanged some sweet pleasantries and then I let them continue their walk. Now, I’m not one for signs but I think I’ll definitely take this one. So proud.”
Identifying with the heartwarming message of Gerster’s encounter, nearly 10,000 people have already shared her post on Facebook, perhaps taking comfort in Hillary’s seemingly tranquil demeanour following her defeat.
The picture has also racked up more than 111,000 positive reactions, and nearly 10,000 comments from people finding the image soothing post-election.
“Thanks for sharing that moment. Many of us needed it,” one commenter wrote.
Another added: “With so much hate in the world, it’s lovely to see such love and peace.”
Now, there’s a message we can really get behind.
