Timothée Chalamet And Saoirse Ronan Were Supposed To Be In Barbie

We've been robbed.

The Barbie movie was choc-a-bloc with celeb cameos; from our very own Nicola Coughlan to stars like Dua Lipa and John Cena.

Director Greta Gerwig put a lot of thought into who featured in her film, especially when it came to pairing up the Barbies and Kens; take the adorable twosome made up of Sex Education co-stars Emma Mackey and Ncuti Gatwa.

Well, now we’re learning that we could have had another amazing co-star duo – in the form of none other than Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan.

Are. You. Joking!

Greta has shared that she was dying to get Timmy and Saoirse on set to be another matched up Barbie and Ken, but for some reason they couldn’t make it. Devastating.

“I tried to get them both in it, I really did, and they both couldn’t do it,” Greta said in a Hollywood First Look interview.

She added that there were some regrets, however: “Timothée did come by the set and then said, ‘Oh, I should have been in this,’ and I was like, ‘I know! Why aren’t you in this?'”

You’re breaking our hearts, Timmy.

Both Saoirse and Timothée have acted together in two of Greta’s films, Ladybird and Little Women.

They’ve also both appeared in The French Dispatch by Wes Anderson, and a collection of short horror films called Great Performers: Horror Show by Floria Sigismondi.

We wonder if they couldn’t make it because they’re both working on some secret project together… here’s hoping!
