What Do They Do With The Leftover Cake On Great British Bake Off?

No, it doesn't end up in the bin.

Here's When The Great British Bake Off Is Back | Stellar

For fans of The Great British Bake Off, it’s likely that there’s one thing on your mind when you’re watching the show – what happens to all the delicious leftovers?

Each week, bakers in the tent are tasked with whisking up delicious treats during 3 different rounds. In the end, the judges taste their creations and cast their verdict on whether they think it’s good or not.

But usually, we’re left wondering what happens to the rest of the baked goods after they’ve been sampled.

Putting our journalistic skills to use, we took a deep dive into the fate of the cakes, and we can report back with good news. The Great British Baking Show': What are Garibaldi Biscuits, aka Squashed Fly Biscuits? | Decider

The cakes thankfully do not end up in the bin, as we originally feared. Past contestants have shared what happens to the goods. 2018 contestant Kim-Joy told Jimmy Carr during Big Fat Quiz Of The Year that the crew will eat most of it.

“The crew will eat it,” she said.

“They’d know the best ones, so they all descend on the bake.”

Confirming that Kim-Joy is correct, the show’s Chief Home Economist Faenia Moore said:

“It’s important for the bakers to eat what they’ve slaved over, so after each challenge I make up a ‘baker’s basket’ to go to their lunchroom”

“Then any leftovers go to the crew’s lunch. Everyone gets quite excited.”

Thank goodness for that, now we can watch the show in peace, and also slight jealousy as we imagine the crew chomping down on all the delicious creations. Any jobs going, lads?
