Why Does Luca Keep Saying ‘Elephant Juice’ On Love Island?

But what does it meeeaan?

Viewers of Love Island have been left a little confused in recent episodes, wondering what the hell Luca means when he mouths the words ‘elephant juice’ to Gemma.

Luca has used the phrase a handful of times when chatting to Gemma, and each time it left fans wondering what he’s referring to.

Turns out, the phrase isn’t a new thing at all, as it rose from the 1999 film ‘Elephant Juice’. In fact, it’s probably something you mouthed on the school yard.Love Island star Luca's sister is the spitting image of Gemma Owen

The expression is a way of saying ‘I love you’ without committing to the words. When saying the phrase it looks like you’re telling someone you love them, which Luca was obviously keen to get across.

However, it last night’s episode we saw him mouth the words for real, as he grabbed Gemma for a terrace chat. Sitting the fellow islander down he confessed his feelings for her,

“I can’t help how I feel and hopefully you feel the same”

“I’ve never been so sure in saying something”

Getting the words out he finally said: “I think I’m in love with you. No, I am in love with you”

To which Gemma responded: “I love you too” – aw!
