Can Zendaya get any more impressive? Fans think so – by adding another Emmy award to the actor’s list of accolades. In a fifteen minute scene from Season Two, Episode Five of HBO’s ‘Euphoria’, the ex-Disney star delivers a powerful performance as her character Rue, a high school drug addict who has convinced her family and friends that she’s sober. The emotionally charged scene sees Rue engaging in a violent outburst after being confronted by her mother, and viewers are majorly impressed.

Though there’s no word out yet for when the 2022 Primetime Emmys will take place, we know that nominations will be announced on Tuesday 12th July, same as last year – and it’s pretty clear that Euphoria fans are expecting their leading lady to be top of the list. One Twitter user joked, ‘condolences to everyone who lost their Emmy to Zendaya tonight’, while another said they’re ‘pretty sure Zendaya just secured an Emmy in 10 minutes’ – and got nearly fifty thousand likes in agreement.

If Zendaya is nominated, it won’t be her first time in the running. In 2020, she was nominated for (and took home) the Emmy award for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series’, following season one of the HBO hit TV series. The American singer-slash-star also has a Critic’s Choice ‘Best Drama Actress’ Award for her role in romantic film ‘Malcolm & Marie’, which came out last January. This woman is busy!

Euphoria itself has received criticism from some publications and audiences about whether or not it glamorises drug abuse, with comparisons drawn to the television series ‘Skins’; a UK show from the 2000’s that raised eyebrows over explicit scenes. But producers of the show assert that the content is all about raising awareness, and educating viewers on the reality of living with addiction as a young person.

And it looks like lovers of the series will be getting what they want, as Euphoria has officially been renewed for Season Three! The show’s Twitter account broke the news on Friday, announcing that director Sam Levinson will be back with a bang to continue Rue’s storyline.

As for when the new season will be released, the studio isn’t giving anything away. Fans can take comfort in knowing that it shouldn’t take nearly as long as last time, with almost three years difference between the first two seasons due to the Covid-19 pandemic. And what can we expect from a new round of episodes? Twitter users are speculating with some fan theories, but nothing has been confirmed, so we’re left guessing for now. Hopefully the ending of this season will bear some clues, so keep your eyes peeled! The Euphoria season two finale airs February 27th on HBO.
