You Have To Follow This Instagram Account Which Is Literally A Work Of Art

With everything cultural closed at the moment you may be missing art galleries and going to a show or an exhibition. Perhaps your brain feels like it’s dissolving slightly as Netflix asks you AGAIN, ‘are you still there?’

If you do need a bit of a cultural injection, we have the perfect Instagram account for you to follow.

Martha Gilheaney, or @marthaslookingglass on Instagram has been turning herself into famous works of art, but using props and backgrounds from her own home.

The results are amazing and we love the creativity that goes into each post she uploads.

Speaking to Stellar Martha said she started the series because she had been laid off from her job, also saying that, “I live alone and I decided I needed a project. Something creative that would also make other people happy too.”

“Posting them every day means a lot of people are messaging me with feedback and suggestions so it’s also bringing a social connection to my social isolation!”

This is exactly the type of content we love to see coming out of lockdown, as often we have our best ideas when we actually have time to stop and reset.

Here are some of our favourites she’s recreated so far, we particularly love The Last Supper featuring Billie Eilish, and The Naughty Maid is definitely a quarantine mood.

You’d think when I’d gone to the effort of doing dem brows I would’ve set up another Frida. It was hard to choose just one but the opportunity to use toilet roll in this one made it more appealing! Also I’m not hating the unibrow, with a lot of grooming falling by the wayside they could become a trend! Painting is The Broken Column by Frida Kahlo and if you’re browsing movie options tonight I highly recommend watching ‘Frida’ with Salma Hayek, it’s brilliant 🥰

The naughty maid by Ludwig Knaus. I have to say I quite like this outfit! I could end up with some new outfit inspirations from all this. If you feel like joining in the fun all you have to do is choose a painting and recreate it with what you’ve got in your home. Or send me your suggestions and I’ll see what I can do. This is my full time job now 😅

Some of the simpler paintings are harder to recreate because you have to be specific about the details. I do not have these colours in my wardrobe or in any way a similar face. I look a lot more like Jesus (see previous post!) But a few of you requested this one so here you go. Girl with the pearl earring by Vermeer 😊
