Book lovers are in for a treat!

The much-loved novel by Heather Morris is getting its own television series on Sky.

Produced by Synchronicity Films, the plot tells the powerful true-life story of Lale Sokolov, a Jewish prisoner of war who is given the job of tattooing identification numbers on fellow prisoners’ arms in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during World War Two.

One day, he meets Gita while she is waiting in line to be tattooed. They experience love at first sight, and so began one of the most life-affirming, courageous, unforgettable and human stories of the Holocaust; a tale of the very best of humanity in the very worst of circumstances.

The show will be a six-part limited series made by Synchronicity Films in association with Sky Studios.

Although we are buzzing for a great series to get stuck into, book lovers are always a little bit cautious when their favourite tale is adapted to screen… But fear not! Author Heather Morris is involved in the production, acting as a consultant on the series, so fans can breathe a sigh of relief, the author’s vision will be included.
