Fancy Yourself A Writer? Introducing… The STELLAR Short Story Competition
We are looking for Ireland’s next fiction favourite, and well, there’s no time like the present!
Are you one of those people that’s convinced you have a novel in you?
Someone whose dream it is to write books for a living? A fiction-obsessive that’s always making up stories in your head, but perhaps never got a chance to write them down?
Let’s face it, you’re probably never going to have a period of enforced downtime like this ever again, so why not sharpen your pencil, boot up your laptop or dip your quill and get writing?
We are looking for the next big voice in Irish fiction, and plan to find them through a perhaps quite difficult method – the short story. We say difficult because it’s often tricky to be concise, and a short story has to have everything a good book does within a very restrictive limit.
Finalists will see snippets of their work published in our July issue, and then readers will vote on their favourite on STELLAR.ie. The winner will have their entire story published in STELLAR Magazine’s August edition, and win a fabulous prize, all to be revealed soon.
So… are you up for the challenge?
HOW TO ENTER
- Write your very own short story, between 1500 and 2000 words. It can be on absolutely any subject, from any genre – all we ask is that it’s aimed at adults and hasn’t been published anywhere else.
- Email your short story (complete with title) to our editor, Vicki Notaro (vicki@stellar.ie) by Monday, June 1st. The subject line MUST read Short Story.
- Include your contact details and a short, three-line bio telling us who you are, plus a picture of yourself. If you’re on Insta or Twitter, include your handle!
