Nicola Coughlan On Onscreen Kisses With Bridgerton Leading Man

“It’s my friend. I have to kiss my friend.”

Season three of Bridgerton is headed our way promising viewers a whole series load of spice.

Nicola Coughlan has revealed what exactly it’s like to kiss the handsome Mr Colin Bridgerton who she just so happens to be real life friends with.

Nicola, who plays Penelope Featherington admitted to being “terrified” filming the steamier scenes with Luke Newton aka Colin Bridgerton, her character’s love interest, due to their long standing friendship.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight during last weekend’s Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event in Brazil Nicola said: “Luke and I read the books at the beginning of season 1, and it was funny to us. We were like, ‘Imagine if we have to kiss and do this’.”

Continuing she said: “And then season 3 comes on and we were like, ‘Oh God,’ and then it’s like, ‘it’s my friend. I have to kiss my friend’.”

The Derry Girls actress also revealed that fans can 100 percent expect to see their favourite spicy scenes from the books translated to the screen – with one even causing a few giggles between herself and Luke.

The 36-year-old explained: “You can’t pretend to kiss someone, you have to really kiss them. It’s a spicy one. It’s a lot of the stuff from the books that the fans expect has made it into the show.”

She continued on sharing: “Oh my God, there was one day where we had to sort of do like a very romantic, beautifully written romantic scene. And we were just like peeing ourselves with laughter, ’cause you just have to, like, look into each other’s eyes and we were like, ‘Oh God,’.”

An official release date has not yet been announced for Bridgerton Season 3, but seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Netflix.
