Selena Gomez Shares Candid Anxiety Chat With Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham

From feuding rumours to alleged throuples, Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham have been the subject of some pretty major media attention.

Most recently, the couple sat down with their good friend Selena Gomez for an intimate conversation about dealing with anxiety, specifically as a result of social media. The candid Q&A was published on Selena’s mental health website, Wondermind.

Gomez has been very open in the past, speaking out online about her challenges with both her mental and physical health. The actress started off her conversation with the Peltz-Beckhams by reflecting on her own struggles from living in the public eye.

“I always think of the times when I get anxiety or I get stressed out or wonder what people are thinking about me. And that always drives me crazy,” Selena said.

She went on to ask the couple about their personal experience with anxiety and unwanted attention on social media.

Nicola explained that she mainly struggles with feeling anxious when reading comments on social media, specifically those that are untrue. She finds it hurtful when people are making blatantly false accusations.

“What really bothers me is when they say something that’s so untruthful and it’s just a blatant lie, and I want to respond and just say like, ‘That’s just not true.’ And I wish they knew the truth. That hurts my feelings, truthfully,” said Nicola.

Nicola is aware that these “lies” could be written by anyone, but she expressed how it’s still very difficult to read these hurtful thing people have written about her.

“It’s easy to say, ‘Oh, it’s a random person, who cares? You don’t know them,’ which is very valid…but it’s just hard when it’s just a lie. That bothers me,” Nicola added.

Brooklyn also spoke up about his own anxiety during the interview, saying that he has “the worst anxiety”. He explained how his wife is what really helps him get through those difficult moments.

“I mean, literally my wife is my therapist. I mean, we’re always together, so whenever there’s something on my mind, if it’s stressing me out, we’re very good at communicating. People are always gonna say rubbish and, you know, as long as you’re happy and your family’s good, then you just have to keep doing your thing” he said.

Although the couple lean on each other for support during difficult times, they both also have their own personal methods of taking their mind off the stress of social media.

Nicola says that doing simple things, like going on a walk, getting a coffee, or going on a drive with her husband helps her to clear her head. She also talks to her mom.

“I definitely go to my mom for everything” she explained. “I do think it’s really important to have people around you that you can lean on.”

Brooklyn prefers to work out his anxiety in the kitchen.

“And while she’s on a walk with the dogs, I start cooking food. That’s what calms me down…” he added.

After Gomez met the Peltz-Beckhams at an event in September 2023, the trio quickly formed a tight bond and appear to have created a meaningful friendship. All three celebrities’ agree that the best advice for when you are struggling with mental health is to share your feelings with the people around you.

“I definitely feel like it’s important to surround yourself with people who are like-minded but more just love you for you,” said Selena. “And I think that’s what I’ve appreciated about our friendship.”
