Bohemian Rhapsody Actress Lucy Boynton Is Our Beauty Hero This Awards Season

The newcomer has been rocking graphic eyeliner and glitter - our kind of gal.

While we love a glitzy red carpet, it’s not really a place stars go to take beauty risks, especially not on their first big awards circuit.

But that’s exactly what Lucy Boynton is doing. The Bohemian Rhapsody actress first caught our eye at the Golden Globes sporting a glimmering gold Celine dress, the most perfect blonde bob, and 70s-inspired gold eye makeup:

It’s different, but not so difficult that you couldn’t immediately replicate it on your own eyelids.

Since then, we’ve been dying to see what she’d do next, makeup-wise – and she has not disappointed. There was graphic liner at the SAG Awards and pre-BAFTA parties:

Colour block red and pink at a film festival earlier this month:

And just this past weekend, a dramatic 80s eye at the BAFTAs:

While it’s daring, the clean skin and natural or carefully coordinated lip colours keep it from looking too costume-y or clownish. And that’s down to the expertise of Lucy’s MUA Jo Baker, who also paints the faces of Amber Heard, Olivia Wilde, and Paris Jackson.

Jo posts detailed breakdowns of each look on her Instagram, as well as her hugely inventive references – in her work with Lucy, she’s been inspired by everything from goldfish tails to power lines to silvery fireworks.

With so many celebs almost afraid of a bit of lipstick, it’s refreshing to see an up and coming actress having fun with beauty. That’s what it’s all about after all, isn’t it?

We don’t know about you, but we’re raring to clash red lips with pink eyes, or throw on a bit of graphic liner for our next big night out. What do Lucy and co have in store for the Oscars on February 25? Watch this space…
