Long Hair?! Ruby Rose Looks Like A Completely Different Person In These Throwback Pics

At this stage we can’t imagine Ruby Rose without her prison jumpsuit, close-cropped locks and that perfect quiff.

But long before her days as the feisty Stella Carlin on Orange Is The New Black, Ruby was rocking an altogether more demure look.

The actress, who got her first taste of fame as an MTV presenter in her native Australia, has been doing the media circuit for years thanks to a spate of high-profile TV and modelling jobs down under, including a campaign for Maybelline New York.

However you’d be forgiven for not recognising her in any pre-2014 pics, thanks to the long straight locks and thick fringe she was sporting at the time, which Cosmo dug up this week:

Weird, right?

In fact, even when she did go for the chop, it was an entirely different bleached blonde look at first, rather than the brunette tones we’re used to.

After finding it difficult to make a name for herself in the US, Ruby struck gold when her self-made short film Break Free went viral – a development she credits with landing her the OITNB role.

“I couldn’t get a manager when I got here, I couldn’t get an agent, I couldn’t get an audition. I started making my own short films as a way of being able to give myself something to do and to study my craft,” she told Variety last year.

“Then the film went viral and getting millions of hits. And I got an email from Jenji [Kohan, the show’s creator]’s office about auditioning for Stella.”

And the rest, as they say, is history.
