Whether you’re actually celebrating Valentine’s Day this weekend or you’re treating it as another normal lockdown Sunday, where’s the harm in adding some fab food that you only have to partly cook yourself?

Plenty of places are doing delicious DIY restaurant kits at home, whether you’re in the mood for something fancy or a larger than life pizza, here are five places that you can check out right now, whether you want to put in an order just in time for this weekend or have something else to look forward to for next week. Plus a few additions to score some brownie points if you’re cooking up a storm at home.

Eaton 6W

Fancy an early brunch rather than a late dinner? Look no further than the amazing waffles from Eaton 6W. Choose from their Chicken and Waffle Box, the Sticky Toffee Waffle Box or the idyllic Couple’s Sweet and Savoury Waffle Box. If you fancy going even further, check out their Valentine’s boxes with a selection of Prosecco or Moet champagne. Sure, we may as well go all out for the day that’s in it, right? Check them out here.

Wing It

Let’s get it out there, making delicious wings at home is HARD, it’s a lot of effort and a lot of patience. But Wing It has made things much easier, with their DIY kits. They have their traditional kit, which has their New York Style On-The-Bone Wings for 5 – 6 people, two of their award-winning sauces and the essential blue cheese dip. Then, if you’re feeling brave, check out the Hot Wing Challenge Kit. Definitely not for the faint-hearted. Take a further look here.

Bujo Burgers

I’ve chatted about Bujo Burgers before because I’m basically obsessed with them (coming from someone who isn’t the biggest beef burger fan). With various boxes on offer, they have something for everyone. They have vegan options, a mini kit, the masterpiece and the weekender kit, which even includes brownies for dessert. Divine. Plus, they deliver nationwide. Check ’em out here.

Sweet Cicely

Fancy something sweet? The Sweet Cicely Valentine’s Box will be right up your street. Packed with delicious treats, like mini doughnuts, strawberries, marshmallows, to name a few. They also have options that’d be ideal for a little afternoon tea at home, with mini sandwiches, cakes and champagne.  Take a look right here.

Dough Bros

An essential on any trip to Galway (ah, remember trips?), you can get a Dough Bros DIY kit delivered anywhere in Ireland. Their home pizza kit includes three wood-fired pizza bases and all the goodies to make three restaurant-quality pizzas at home, as well as roasted garlic dips and three various toppings. Admittedly, they’re not the easiest to get as they’re in pretty high demand, the next available nationwide delivery slot is Thursday 25th or Friday 26th of March. But trust me, they’re so worth it. Buy it here.

Sticking to home cooking?

Or, if you fancy adding a little something-something to your own home-cooked meals this weekend, Ellie’s Kitchen Home Edition has just launched a brand new range of cooking sauces. Created by End Direct Provision Activist and Founder of award-winning non-profit social enterprise Our Table, Ellie Kisyombe, the brand has an amazing array of must-haves in your kitchen press. Including Extra Extra Hot Chilli Sauce, a Smokey Lemon Hot Sauce and a Mild Lemon & Herb Hot Sauce, along with two Pasta Sauces (a vegan-friendly Roast Garlic & Herb, and a ready-made Chicken Flavoured sauce). Order them right here, or pick them up in independent food stores nationwide.

Meltdown Hot Sauce

There’s a slight worry that this is turning into a post dedicated to delicious sauces, but hear me out. The Meltdown Hot Sauce is now available to buy online, what a time we live in. This stuff goes with everything, from burgers to pizza and everything in between. Shop it online here, or pick it up from retailers nationwide.

Salted Caramel Lindt

Sorry, what is Valentine’s Day without chocolate anyway? Or even, a day during lockdown without chocolate? No, thank you. Give yourself an extra treat this weekend with the gorgeous Salted Caramel Lindt chocolates. Dare I say, they’re even better than the original Lindt chocolates.
