5 Things Khloe Kardashian Has Taught Us About Health & Fitness
You can't miss Khloe's amazing body transformation, and we've picked up a few deadly tips from her along the way.
1. Find your motivation
It was after her split from Lamar, that Khloe really found the determination to adopt a healthier lifestyle. “That’s how I began to deal with my own isolation—by visiting the hotel gym every day, sometimes twice a day,” Khloe writes in her new book Strong Looks Better Naked. “As the days turned into weeks, however, I began to look forward to the workouts. I loved sweating. I loved the feeling of accomplishment when it was over.”
2. Make it fun
Khloe’s no slacker when it comes to working out, but she says it’s finding an exercise you really enjoy, that’s the key to sticking at it. “If you want to know what really, truly matters when it comes to exercise, it’s this: You have to find an exercise you can grow to love,” she writes. “If you don’t, you won’t stick with it, and nothing will change.” Got it.
3. Make it a lifestyle
Khloe’s starting goals weren’t to drop pounds or build a booty, but to make a lasting change. “Around this time, someone said, ‘Are you training for something?'” she writes. “And I said, ‘Yes, I am. I’m training for LIFE!'”
Tellingly, exercise is so much a part of Khloe’s life, that she gets cranky when she misses a session. “I feel a tremendous sense of relief as soon as I walk through those [gym] doors,” she says. “And after a few minutes of boxing or running on the treadmill, I can literally feel each brick of stress crumbling away.”
4. Drink loadsa water
Khloe’s motto? Get your eight glasses and then some. She’s a firm advocate for the body-boosting properties of H2O. “Some people even think [water]’s a mood stabilizer, and I believe it, because I’ve seen the difference in me since I’ve been drinking adequate amounts of water,” she writes. “It’s all about water. Flush, flush, flush.” Khloe infuses her water with different fruit combos, so she doesn’t get bored.
5. Go hard or go home
Khloe certainly doesn’t take it easy down the gym. Nope, a standard session for her includes deadlifts, heavy barbells, and battle ropes. Yikes! The key to not slacking off? Khloe’s trainer Gunnar Peterson says it’s switching up your workout every day. Explaining Khloe’s changing routine, he told People Magazine, “some days it’s more heart-rate intensive, some days it’s more lower-extremities intensive, some days the upper extremities get a little extra love.” You gotta change it up to see a change.
