There’s A Legit Reason Why You Struggle To Lose Weight From Your Thighs
No, it's not because you're not working hard enough.
You’ve been slogging it out on the squat rack, working up a sweat at spin class and running the roads on the regular, but still that stubborn weight on your thighs doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. So what gives?
Well the good news is that, it has nothing to do with how hard you’re working. In fact, if you’re exercising your thighs on the regular but not seeing any changes, it’s likely an evolutionary fault, not your own.
The problem is a process known as homeostasis. Basically, it refers to any process that living things use to actively maintain stable conditions which are necessary for their survival. In other words, homeostasis areas like your thighs and hips, work very hard at staying the same, making it difficult to shift fat.
The even worse news is that it’s even more difficult for women to shift weight in these areas. Uh, thanks evolution.
So what does all this mean when it comes to achieving your aesthetic goals?
Unfortunately you can’t beat biology, but there are few ways you can give your body a subtle nudge in the right direction when it comes to shifting weight off your thighs.
Fat tends to gather around unactivated muscles so upping your strength training can certainly help to get things moving. As an added bonus you’ll also increase your metabolic rate which will burn fat quicker. Focus on less reps at a higher weight to see a faster increase in lean muscle and a more toned appearance.
