5 Of Our Fav Pop Music It Girls RN

Bumpin' that

Summer 2024 is quickly becoming a pop music it-girl summer. Some of our favourite singers are releasing absolute bops and simultaneously killing it with their fashion, promo and shows.

While we have the obvious, like Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande, who continue to deliver year in and year out, here are our few others who have really made a name for themselves recently and are set to dominate the music industry in years to come.

Sabrina Carpenter

Unless you’re living under a rock, then you definitely have heard of American singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter. While she has been in the music and acting business since she was 12, the now 25-year-old is topping the charts with Espresso and Please, Please, Please.

This year already she has performed at Coachella, attended the Met Gala and was Taylor Swift’s opening act for the Australia and Singapore legs of The Eras Tour.

She’s not slowing down any time soon. She announced that her new album, Short n Sweet, is coming out on August 23, and she’s going on tour across North America from September onwards.

Of course, we can’t forget that she recently started dating Irish actor Barry Keoghan, who starred in the Please, Please, Please music video.

Charli xcx

Everyone’s favourite brat, Charli xcx, has taken the pop world by storm with her new album. While the English singer-songwriter first rose to fame with her feature on Icona Pop’s I Love It back in 2012 and has released five albums in her 13-year-long career so far, there seems to be more fanfare around her new album Brat than any of her previous ones.

Brat is the perfect album to play when getting ready for a night out with the girls, as Charli will make you feel like a “365 party girl”.

Like Sabrina, Charli is beginning a tour across North America in September and is teaming up with Australian singer Troye Sivan. She then heads to the U.K. to promote Brat in November.

Let’s hope Charli announces a Dublin date soon because we need to experience Brat and all her other hits live.

Chappell Roan

She refers to herself as “your favourite artist’s favourite artist.” She American singer-songwriter Chappell Roan and she has quickly risen to fame over the last few months.

Despite releasing music since 2017, she hit a winner when she put out Good Luck, Babe! in April. Her first album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, came out last September and is sure to be the first of many.

She will be touring across Europe this autumn. While she does have a show in Dublin on September 17, you may have a hard time grabbing tickets as they are sold out on Ticketmaster.

Along with her flawless vocals, she does a great job with her style. From feather lashes to cowgirl core, she’s always trying something new. She even dressed up as the Statue of Liberty when she performed at Gov Ball in New York City.

Reneé Rapp

American singer-songwriter and actress Reneé Rapp has steadily been rising in stardom ever since she appeared in the comedy series The Sex Lives of College Girls back in 2021.

While she has had some great acting roles, like playing Regina George from Mean Girls on Broadway and then taking on the role again in the 2024 musical version of the movie, she has been focusing a lot on her music recently.

She released her first EP in 2022 and then quickly followed that with her debut album, Snow Angel, last year. This year, we got the Mean Girl soundtrack and have been bopping along to Not My Fault, her song with Megan Thee Stallion.

Reneé has been a staple during this festival season. She has already done Coachella, where she invited Kesha with her on stage to perform TiK ToK. She is headed to Lollapalooza in Chicago next and will be in the U.K. for Reading and Leeds Festival in late August.

Unfortunately, she has no tour plans in Ireland as of now. Maybe next year, when she has more time, she can come, especially as it seems she is focusing more on music than acting now.

Tyla

The voice behind the viral hit, Water, South African singer-songwriter Tyla is making her presence in the music industry known.

The 22-year-old released her self-titled debut album in March with a creative pop, R&B and amapiano (a mix of deep house and jazz) sound.

Like Reneé, she is playing many festivals across the world this summer and has also been performing on some of the big late-night talk shows in the U.S.

She also kills it when it comes to her fashion choices. She even wore a dress made of sand at this year’s Met Gala, which was one of the best looks of the event, in our opinion.

Oh, and she’s casually already won a Grammy.
