Aaron Taylor Johnson Shares Rare Insight Into Married and Family Life

He’s finally opening up!

Aaron Taylor Johnson says he has “nothing to hide” when it comes to his family life with wife Sam Taylor Johnson.

Since the beginning of their relationship back in 2009, after meeting on set of the film Nowhere Boy, the Taylor Johnson’s have had criticism thrown their way as a result of their 23 year age gap. Aaron was 18 when he met Sam who was 42 at the time.

They were engaged less than a year later, closely followed by the birth of their first child. However, after many years of silence Aaron has finally shared a little insight into their family life and why he tends to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

Chatting to Esquire Aaron said: “I’m trying to be as honest as possible. I’ve probably talked to you more about my kids and Sam than I have with anybody. I’ve got really nothing to hide, and I’m secure in what we have. But I’m not going to unlock things that are actually precious to me.”

While they have worked together creatively on a number of projects since their marriage in 2012, Aaron said: “Yeah, we worked—I met Sam as an actor and director. I think we’re really great at collaborating. But that’s not why I fell in love with her.”

The Jackass actor didn’t dive into his relationship with Sam but he did reveal a lot about his family life with his kids. Even revealing he’s said no to numerous acting jobs over the years to spend time with his kids at home.

He said: “I enjoy the normality of things, the everyday stuff. Getting my kids ready in the mornings, taking them to school and activities—that’s plenty. That feeds my soul.”

Aaron shares two daughters Wylda, 13 and Romy Hero, 11 with his wife. He also co-parents Angelica, 25 and Jessie, 15 from Sam’s first marriage.
