All The Dating Trends To Look Out For In 2025
It's tough out there, lads...
Dating in this world is difficult – and so different to how it used to be.
The reality of dating these days does hugely consist of online dating, ‘on the apps’ if you will.
One of those apps is Bumble and they’ve put together a list of dating trends they’re expecting to see in the New Year.
So, if you’re looking to put yourself out there in 2025, here are some trends to look out for… or maybe even get involved in!
Micro-mance
There is no doubt that a lot of us women LOVE love, but for one in three of us, a lack of romance has had a negative impact on our dating lives. However, rather than over the top gestures, people are embracing romance in a new way: through micro-mance – a term to describe expressing your feelings through smaller gestures, with big impact.
This may include writing a meaningful letter to somebody rather than buying them an expensive present, creating a playlist just for them, or recommending them some of your favourite books.
DWM (Date With Me)
Let be real, everyone wants to know what they are getting into from the beginning of a relationship.
That’s why it’s becoming more important to not only show the highs of putting yourself out there, but also the lows of the dating game.
Get on TikTok and be realistic with your dating experiences, chat to your mates about the crap meet ups you’ve been on, and normalise the tough side of putting yourself out there.
On The Same (Fan) Page
The rise of micro-communities, from run club fanatics to hardcore gamers, are taking over our social feeds.
It’s also changing who and how we date, with nearly half (47%) of singles stating that unique and quirky interests are now key to attraction. It’s time to show off your interests and make them known.
Male Casting
It’s time to look past the stereotypes. 1 in 3 (33%) singles agree that this year, more than ever, there have been more conversations debunking male stereotypes.
But are these the downfall of dating? 1 in 4 (27%) men are claiming that these tropes are creating false assumptions about their character and intentions. While it’s helpful to be wary, let’s not assume bad intentions before they are shown.
Future-Proofing
A vast majority of single people report that their future aspirations are influencing both whom they choose to date and the way they approach dating. For the majority (59%) of women this means placing more value on stability – looking for a partner who is emotionally consistent, reliable, and has clear goals when it comes to their life.
However, it might be time to live more in the moment. As they say, there is no time like the present!
Guys That Get It
Most women now say they are open to talking about dating their men friends.
This shows a shift towards men engaging with their friends in a healthy way and learning more about women’s feelings and thoughts that they might not have been aware of before. Opening them up to the other perspective can only be a good thing!
