Love Island’s Molly-Mae has announced that she has decided to take a break from social media for a while, after she received a lot of backlash over the death of her puppy, Mr Chai. Molly received the Pomeranian puppy from her boyfriend Tommy Fury for her 21st birthday.
But when the news came that Mr Chai was imported from Russia, many people questioned the decision, stating that importing a dog came under unnecessary travel during the Coronavirus pandemic and that there are plenty of dogs in need of a loving home in the UK.
But after announcing the sad passing of the pup, just six days after the couple got him, the couple has faced even more criticism, causing Molly to take a break from her social media pages. A source revealed to The Sun Online, “Molly-Mae is taking a break to have time to herself for a few days.”

Molly and Tommy had taken to YouTube to explain the cause of Mr Chai’s death. Where Molly revealed, “Chai’s skull wasn’t fully developed. Part of his brain was exposed. In a tiny dog, any knock probably wasn’t very helpful.”
She then addressed the backlash she was receiving, saying, “Whilst we completely understand everyone’s opinions about being shipped over from Russia, what you need to understand is that is not what made him die.”
While this hasn’t stopped people flocking to Twitter to slate Molly and Tommy, with one user calling them “stupid,” and suggesting that they hadn’t properly researched what the dog may need and that they only bought him for “a photo op”, others are urging people to not be too harsh on Molly. Saying, “sure, Molly-Mae got the dog shipped from Russia and maybe she just wanted a cute one, but it was still her f***ing dog and it died so maybe let’s not bash her.”
It’s pretty clear why Molly-Mae would feel the need to take a break from social media right now, but we’re hoping to see her back soon!
