Paul Mescal is certainly starting 2021 on a high note, the Kildare native has spent the majority of the year so far in Australia, where he’s shooting the movie adaptation of Carmen alongside Melissa Barrera.
A movie that’s certainly going to flex many of Paul’s talents including dancing, singing and acting (of course!), he’s truly proving to be a triple threat.
But Paul has recently admitted that post-Normal People, he found lockdown pretty tough, especially with trying to book work.
“I’ve struggled with the absence of work. A vast period of the day which would’ve been occupied is now totally unoccupied,” the actor previously told OK! Magazine.
Adding that his life was a host of Zoom calls, from interviews surrounding Normal People and his rise in fame to calls with his agents and work, the star admitted to running a lot as a form of serotonin to keep himself in positive spirits.

Certainly an unconventional rise to fame, Paul did a lot of it virtually, but admits that with his first cheque from Normal People, he spent it in the most Irish way ever.
“I did stupid things like buying the cast a round of drinks which was pretty much my entire wage!'”
But following on from the success of 2020 which saw Paul receive an Emmy nomination for Normal People, a serious accolade from GQ, as well as the hearts of every celeb in Hollywood, Paul is ready for 2021 and the praise is already flowing in.
The “Ballyhaunis” star has been nominated for a Critics Choice Award to kick off the year, with those awards taking place in March.
