*spoilers for season three, episode one of Derry Girls*
Derry Girls returned to our screens last week for the final ever series of the sensational comedy, and the show kicked things off with a bang. The first episode of season three had a very special, surprise appearance from Liam Neeson.
Of course fans absolutely loved the Taken star’s performance as a RUC police inspector, and so did the cast as star Saoirse-Monica Jackson revealed just how much she loved working with Hollywood’s leading man.
Speaking to Sunday Life, she shared how exciting it was to work with the Ballymena man. Saying; “Oh my god. It was probably the best experiences of my life and I think the person has such a huge presence and massive star quality and someone I’ve always looked up to because they are from the same place so the opportunity to work with him was amazing.”
“He was so generous. It was such a funny, surreal experience.”

And Saoirse wasn’t the only one to rave about working with Liam. Tara Lynne O’Neill, who plays Saoirse’s on-screen mum, also enjoyed working with the action film icon. Although she did find it tough keeping his appearance on the show under wraps.
As she explained; ” Keeping quiet about it was really hard. I didn’t tell anyone in my family because I don’t trust them.”
But other than that Tara loved having him on set and even confessed that he fit right in. Saying; “He fitted right in. It’s amazing how many people wanted to be part of these season, who want to be part of it and Liam was no different.
And I loved people’s reactions to it and I think we did a really good job keeping it quiet so when people actually did see it, it did blow everyone’s mind. Watching Jamie Lee (O’Donnell) flirt with him was possibly the best comedy I’ve ever seen. ”

And Tara was right, a lot of famous faces wanted to be a part of Derry Girls’ final season, including iconic DJ Fatboy Slim.
Fatboy Slim, whose real name is actually Norman Cook, is said to be a massive fan of the show and will be starring as himself in this season.
“Norman has agreed to do some filming for Derry Girls, he’s a big fan of the show,” a source revealed to Sunday Life.
“The show is based in the ’90s so it will hark back to when he broke through as Fatboy Slim with big hits like Praise You. As his show has been rescheduled, we are just working out when we will now shoot his scenes. It will most likely be when he is back here in a few months as the show is due to continue filming into December.”
