Did Taraji P Henson Throw A Little Dig At Ryan Seacrest On The Oscars Red Carpet?

Last week, we reported that Jennifer Lawrence was unsure whether or not she would talk to Ryan Seacrest at Sunday night’s Oscars following his sexual assault allegations. However, it wasn’t Jennifer who ended up having an awkward encounter with the presenter last night.

Despite the allegations that Seacrest sexually assaulted his former E! News stylist, he was still present on the red carpet before the show and conducted interviews with some of the nights biggest stars. E! introduced a 30-second tape delay however, reportedly in case any controversial conversations popped up.

Despite this, one star managed to subtly get her two cents in.

While chatting on the red carpet, Seacrest asked actress Taraji P Henson to comment on Mary J Blige’s two Oscar nominations. She replied: “The universe has a way of taking care of the good people, you know what I mean?” and then briefly touched the presenter’s chin.

It was then reported that Taraji told her next interviewer that she was “great now that I’m in your company,” when he asked how she was doing.

People on Twitter took Taraji’s comments as her throwing some serious shade at Ryan Seacrest – however, Taraji later told PEOPLE that the comments were misconstrued.

“I did it to keep his chin up,” she said. “It’s an awkward position to be in. He’s been cleared, but anyone can say anything.” When asked if she supports Seacrest, Henson replied “absolutely”.

The E! host also dismissed any speculation that there is bad blood between the two with a tweet.
