Er, So Scarlett Moffatt’s Next Presenting Gig Is A Little Out Of Left Field
Unexpected, but it kinda works!
This time last year, Scarlett Moffatt was best known for her mouthy appearances with her family on Channel 4’s Gogglebox. Fast forward twelve months though, and the brashy 26-year-old has just been crowned queen of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here jungle, plus she has a fitness DVD en route after shedding close to three stone.
Safe to say it’s been a whirlwind time of it for Scarlett of late, and judging by her next rumoured presenting job, things are about to get even more surreal.
The reality star is tipped to front Channel 4’s version of the Great British Bake Off when it launches next year, after C4 producers fell in love with her humour and her relaxed attitude on I’m A Celebrity. While she’s definitely a different breed of celebrity from the BBC’s Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc, Scarlett could be perfect for the GBBO re-branding.
“Scarlett is now a serious contender. She opened a lot of eyes to her potential on I’m a Celebrity,” an insider told The Mirror yesterday.
“She is young, very funny and just the type of presenter Channel 4 are looking for to front their version of the show. Scarlett may be inexperienced but the thinking is she could be paired with a more senior co-host.”
Other stars reportedly in the running for the presenting gig are Richard Ayoade, Jennifer Saunders and Davina McCall. Jennifer charmed viewers during her appearance on The Great Comic Relief Bake Off in February 2015, walking home with the title of Star Baker after beating Joanna Lumley, Lulu and Dame Edna in the baking stakes.
Paul Hollywood remains the only stalwart of the original BBC line-up to commit to the Channel 4 re-brand, with Mary Berry, Sue and Mel all choosing to remain with the BBC. Sounds like there will be a VERY different show in store next year…
